Dr Joel C. Gill is Lecturer in Sustainable Geoscience in the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Cardiff University (United Kingdom) and Chief Executive Officer of the UK-based charity, Geology for Global Development. As an interdisciplinary geoscientist, Joel integrates natural and social science approaches to address issues relating to sustainable development and disaster risk reduction in multi-hazard contexts. Joel sits on the External Advisory Board of the MYRIAD-EU project, providing advice and support to the management team and wider consortium. He works extensively at the science-policy-practice interface, with experienceworking with NGOs and government agencies, and in UN processes supporting implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Sendai Framework for DRR, and the Paris Agreement.
